BA Adds Capacity to Palma Flights from London City
British Airways announced this week that it is doubling the capacity of its cheap flights to Majorca from London City Airport this summer, due to popular demand.
The cheap flights to Palma are set to move from three to six services a week in July and August, leaving the Docklands hub every day except Saturday. BA's connections to Palma on Friday and Sunday will also remain in place until the end of October, to allow parents to visit the destination during the autumn half-term holidays.
All in all, the additional services and larger aircraft being used will increase the number of seats on BA's cheap flights to Majorca to 25,000 over the summer/autumn season.
London City Airport is also set to see BA beginning to operate cheap flights to Malaga and Faro in Portugal in June, as the flag carrier seeks to expand further into the leisure market at the hub. Currently, the airline offers cheap flights to 12 destinations from Nice, including Barcelona, Madrid and Nice.
Budget airline easyJet also announced the start of a new service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport this week, offering cheap flights to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The destination has become an increasingly popular option for cheap city breaks, and is currently the European Capital of Culture. EasyJet's flights from Liverpool will leave three times a week.
The carrier's UK commercial manager Ali Gayward commented: "Tallinn is a rising alternative city break destination as it beautifully brings the city's medieval history together with its modern art galleries, stylish cafes and chic restaurants."
