Brits Urged to Consider a Budapest Break

Brits Urged to Consider a Budapest Break While UK holidaymakers may be looking to the more established sunshine getaway destinations this summer, one travel consultant has urged Brits to discover the culture and beauty of Hungary.

The Costa del Sol in Spain, southern France and the islands of Greece are all well-worn holiday spots for British travellers. Karin Jones, who is working as a consultant for the Hungarian National Tourist Office, suggested yesterday that travellers should seriously consider the country’s capital Budapest as the perfect location for a great value city break.

Ms Jones said that Budapest was “unbeatable” for a break, with cheap hotels with five-star rooms available for under £100 a night – and low prices across the board.

The city is also very easy to get to from the UK, she pointed out, with cheap flights leaving nine British airports on a regular basis, and Budapest served by reputable carriers such as British Airways, easyJet and Hungarian flag carrier Malev.

Speaking of the many attractions to be found in the country’s capital, Ms Jones said that “Budapest is best known for its historic bridges, the Great Synagogue, the Danube and ornate thermal baths, but the city is also world-renowned for the standard of living it offers to both locals and visitors,” reported Opodo Travel.

For visitors to the city in August there is also the prospect of the amazing Sziget Festival, which takes place over six days on an island in the centre of the Danube. This year there will be more than 1,000 bands and artists playing some 55 stages, as well as a swimming pool, bungee jumping, karaoke, football matches and a cinema.
