EasyJet Crowns Royal Wedding Lookalikes
Europe's most convincing Prince William and Kate Middleton lookalikes were "crowned" last Friday by cheap flights airline easyJet, following a competition across the continent.
The budget airline declared Simon Watkinson from London and Orsola Rossi from Milan the winners, after receiving hundreds of photos from several countries in Europe.
On Wednesday, some 20 finalists were brought to central London on the carrier's various cheap flights. The gruelling finals involved a series of tests, which included waving in a convincingly "royal" manner, acting a romantic wedding proposal and the traditional tossing of the bridal bouquet.
Mr Watkinson and Ms Rossi spent today in London enjoying the real Royal Wedding celebrations – on top of a year's worth of free flights with easyJet.
The cheap fares carrier's communications director Paul Moore declared: "The competition has been fierce, with hundreds applying to be crowned the best Will and Kate lookalikes Europe has to offer. However, Simon and Orsola stood out as they bear such a striking resemblance to our future King and Queen."
"It has been great fun to fly lookalikes from all over Europe to London to enjoy the wedding celebrations and crown our very own easyJet royal couple."
For his part, Mr Watkinson admitted that he couldn't believe he was the ultimate competition winner, although he had been told many times in the past about his resemblance to Prince William. His "bride" for the day, Ms Rossi, added that it was "very exciting" to be crowned the most convincing lookalike of "one of the most famous women in the world".
