Holidays to Ibiza and Majorca in for Record Breaking Year

Holidays to Ibiza and Majorca in for Record Breaking Year Holidays to the Balearics are due for a sharp rise in bookings this year as the Spanish islands once again become a holiday melting pot for family holidays, 18-30s trips and beach breaks.

British Airways announced last month that it was set to increase the frequency of its services to the Balearics in order to satisfy rising demand for holidays to the islands.

Two new BA services will begin in May this year from London’s City Airport taking passengers on flights to Ibiza and Majorca. During the peak summer season, BA will up the number of flights going to Majorca to six flights a week. Meanwhile, flights to Ibiza will depart four times a week during July and August.

The airline has also considered improving Balearic routes between Gatwick and Ibiza during the summer holidays. Cheap flights to Ibiza will be in high demand this summer, particularly with clubbers, for which Ibiza is rightly famed.

Travel portal Love Ibiza found in its recent Ibiza Census that July was the most popular month for a holiday to Ibiza, with 36 per cent of respondents visiting the island in July 2009. 45 per cent of travellers to the island last year were “Ibiza virgins” and yet 78 per cent said they would return to the island for their holiday in 2010, a huge retention rate.

Editor of Love Ibiza John McElborough told Jet2.com: “Along with the interest we have seen in the 2010 season already we would expect this to be a record breaking year for Ibiza tourism.”
