Jet2 Highlights Sport and Culture in Barcelona Budget airline Jet2.com promised its customers considering booking one of its cheap flights to Barcelona this year that they will "not be disappointed" with the range of attractions the Catalonian capital has to offer.

"It is certainly an understatement to say that Barcelona has plenty to offer to tourists," the airline said in a statement. "Whether you're interested in stunning beaches, eye-catching Gaudi architecture or some of the world's top museums and galleries, you aren't going to be disappointed if you are looking for cheap flights to Barcelona this year."

The carrier went on to point out that as well as the aforementioned beaches, museums, galleries and beaches, there were also some "fascinating" annual events taking place in Barcelona, which are sure to prove a draw to many people taking Spain holidays in 2011.

Motor sports fans taking cheap flights to Barcelona are spoilt for choice this year, with the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix taking place in the city next month and, soon afterwards, the Catalonian leg of the MotoGP season. The venue for both of these premier events is the famous Circuit de Catalunya racetrack, which can be found immediately outside Barcelona's city limits itself.

Visitors seeking more calm and cultural pursuits, however, will also find plenty to absorb them, with next month seeing the Barcelona Poetry Festival, which takes place between 11 and 17 May.

Barcelona holidays are synonymous with music for many UK visitors, thanks to the many festivals and concerts in the city. Next month sees the open-air Primavera Sound Festival taking place over 5 days at the Parc del Fòrum, with some of the world's best rock bands and DJs, while the famous SONAR International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia takes place in in June.
