Jet2 Touts 39-Day Holidays for 14 Days Annual Leave
Cheap flights carrier Jet2.com and its cheap holidays arm Jet2holidays urged UK families to take full advantage of this year's unique bank holiday arrangements and use just 14 days of annual leave to get a massive 39 days in the sun.
The Royal Wedding will provide Britons with an additional bank holiday this year. When taken alongside the late Easter, Jet2.com said that UK workers have been waking up to the fact that they can get an 11-day break using just a few days annual leave.
The cheap fares carrier stressed that booking early is essential, however, if holidaymakers want to ensure they can spend as many days as possible at their favourite sunshine destinations.
Jet2holidays managing director Steve Heapy said: "The way the bank holidays work in 2011 is really unusual, so it makes sense to make the most of them this year. You could easily get an 11-day break across the Royal Wedding, Easter and May Day holiday, only using three days of annual leave."
"At Christmas if you fly on the Friday 23 and return on the 2 January, again you may only need to use three days for a 10-day break. With the spring and summer bank holidays too – which fall in school holidays – it makes sense to make the most of all the 'free' days."
Mr Heapy added that technically, a worker with a basic 20-day leave allowance could take advantage of the bank holidays and stay on holiday for 39 days while still retaining six days leave entitlement.
Jet2.com offers cheap flights to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and other top sunshine destinations, while its holidays arm offers flexible stays in cheap hotels across the network.
