Monarch Expands Cheap Flights for Summer 2011
Budget airline Monarch announced a massive expansion of its summer schedule, in response to high demand from UK holidaymakers seeking cheap flights to Spain, Portugal, Turkey and the Canary Islands.
The extra flights from Luton and Manchester airports will add an extra 135,000 seats to the summer schedule – a necessary move, according to the airline. It said that demand for cheap flights with Monarch this summer has already soared to 27 per cent more than the same period in 2010 and is continuing to grow.
The extra flights begin on 27 May. From London Luton Airport, Monarch will be operating an extra four cheap flights to Gibraltar every week, plus two extra weekly cheap flights to Alicante, Malaga, Majorca and Dalaman in Turkey. There will be one extra flight a week to the Turkish destination of Bodrum, as well as an extra flight to Faro in Portugal.
From Manchester Airport, the carrier will be laying on an extra weekly flight to Larnaca in Cyprus, and an extra 16,000 seats will be made available on cheap flights to Alicante, Faro, Lanzarote, Larnaca, Majorca and Malaga from London Gatwick.
Monarch Airlines managing director Kevin George pointed out that the airline has recently reported record passenger numbers for January, and has previously expanded its April cheap flights programme in response to massive demand over the Easter period. "Bookings for summer are already up 27 per cent compared with the same time last year, so we are delighted to respond by adding seats," he beamed.
Tickets are now available for all the additional Monarch flights.
