New Cheap Flights to Seville With easyJet
Budget airline easyJet began operating its first cheap flights to Seville in Andalucia this weekend, giving people more choice of services on their southern Spain holidays. The first of the cheap flights, which are operating from London's Gatwick Airport, left the hub on Saturday, and will fly four times a week to Seville – the capital of the Andalucian region.
The ancient city was first established in Roman times, and has since been a huge cultural and trade centre for the Moors and afterwards, the Spanish Christian kings. It later became the heart of all trade with the New World.
As a result, it is packed with a wealth of historical architecture and places of interest, such as the vast cathedral, where Christopher Columbus is said to be interred. Seville holidays are also well known for the great eating and drinking to be found in the city, which claims to be where flamenco originated.
The cheap flights with easyJet began just in time for Semana Santa – the Spanish take on Holy Week in Easter, which sees the city take the week off to witness spectacular parades of religious icons and effigies, followed by processions of robed 'penitents'.
EasyJet UK general manager Paul Simmons said that the new cheap flights would make the beautiful city of Seville more "accessible and affordable" for UK holidaymakers.
"easyJet is the largest airline to fly from London Gatwick and the Seville route means we will now offer some 92 destinations," Mr Simmons went on. "This includes three more new routes which will be launching shortly to Izmir, Verona and Aberdeen, providing even more choice to leisure and business travellers."
