Paris Still Top Spot for City Breaks in 2011
UK travel association ABTA said that Paris holidays are the top destination for Britons seeking city breaks today.
Paris has remained a perennial favourite for UK travellers since the dawn of international tourism itself, thanks to its many attractions and reputation as a "city of romance". There are many cheap flights to Paris available from the UK, and the relatively recent introduction of the Eurostar service has made it easily accessible by rail.
An ABTA spokeswoman revealed that Paris holidays are currently at the number one spot for city breaks, due to the large number of people eager to see its cultural and historical heritage, embodied in the Louvre museum and Notre Dame cathedral, plus striking monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. This is without mentioning the city's well-deserved reputation for offering the very finest in dining experiences.
It is also a great family destination, thanks to Disneyland Paris – where children can lose themselves among the many rides and themed attractions based on Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and many more.
The spokeswoman went on to say that "there are art galleries and restaurants, which are the main attractions for Paris. They also have lovely parks and outside spaces. It is a year-round destination".
There are many cheap flights to Paris available from airports right across the UK, flying with established flag carriers, such as British Airways and Air France, as well as with no-frills airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair and others. For the best bargains and the cheapest flights, be sure to hunt down deals online and book early.
