Royal Lookalikes Competition Launched by easyJet
Cheap fares carrier easyJet announced a rather unusual competition yesterday – to find the people in Europe who most resemble the soon-to-be-wed royal couple.
The airline urged anyone who believes they are a dead ringer for either Prince William or his fiancée Kate Middleton to post their picture on the I Look Like a Royal website ahead of a 10 April deadline. The entries will be whittled down to 10 couples and these finalists will take one of easyJet's cheap flights to London for the ultimate judging stage of the competition.
Along with a chance to be part of the citywide royal wedding celebrations on 29 April, the final winners will receive the prize of a year's worth of free easyJet flights to any of its destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
The cheap flights airline's communications director Paul Moore stressed that the competition was open to any of easyJet's passengers as excitement about the forthcoming nuptials was "definitely not confined to the UK".
He added: "With 300 million Europeans living within one hour's drive of an easyJet airport, we expect to carry more European visitors to London to watch the royal wedding than any other airline. This competition is a fun way for anybody who has ever been mistaken for either of the happy couple to step forward for the chance to come to London for the big day."
London's Westminster Abbey will be the location for the royal wedding on 29 April 2011, which is also a bank holiday. Canny UK travellers are taking advantage of this extra holiday to book cheap flights to Spain, France, Italy and other short-haul destinations in order to take an extended city break or a short beach holiday.
