Ryanair Trials Hello Magazine Sales on Cheap Flights

Ryanair Trials Hello Magazine Sales on Cheap Flights Cheap flights carrier Ryanair made a somewhat belated attempt to cash in on the Royal Wedding this week, with the announcement today that it has begun selling Hello! magazine on cheap flights to and from London Stansted, Birmingham and Edinburgh airports, following the celebrations last Friday.

The airline said that it was trialling sales of the magazine for six months on its cheap flights, and if it proved a money-spinner it would be rolling out the onboard sales to other services from airports across the UK.

Ryanair head of communications Stephen McNamara commented: "Ryanair welcomes the tourism boost ensured by the future King and Queen's wedding and is now bringing the best coverage on the wedding of the year to the skies for only £2."

"We believe that this six month trial of Hello! magazine will prove a huge success with passengers flying to and from Birmingham, Edinburgh and London Stansted, with many other celebrities to tie the knot and hit the headlines making Hello! the glossiest entertainment at 30,000 feet."

Rival cheap fares airline Monarch also jumped on the Royal Wedding bandwagon, albeit before the occasion itself, with a special photo opportunity featuring lookalikes of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The "happy couple" were snapped boarding one of Monarch Airlines' cheap flights to Paphos in Cyprus in order to promote the carrier's image as an ideal choice for people seeking flights to top honeymoon destinations. Monarch was also celebrating the launch of aircraft emblazoned with the message "Congratulations Wills and Kate" flying from Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Luton airports.
