Spanish Diversity Attracts More Holidaymakers
Villa holidays in Spain are due for a boost this summer as British tourists explore the huge range of holidays and destinations around the country.
More people are searching online for holidays to Spain, and investigating their options for a summer break along the Costa Brava or at the cultural attractions in Barcelona and Madrid. Skyscanner revealed recently that beach holidays to Malaga and Alicante were among the most popular holiday searches from British users.
Meanwhile, Spanish property site Kyero.com confirmed that it had seen a 63 per cent increase in traffic since last year, as interest returned to Spain after a hiatus last year. Ignacio Vasallo, European director of the Spanish Tourism Office said that Spain’s variety of holidays was what attracted British customers to the country.
“Spain offers the diversity British tourists are looking for, from beach life to nightlife, historic cities to vineyards, city breaks to family holidays,” he told Azure Holidays.com. Increasingly, the beach holiday mentality is changing and holidaymakers are looking for destinations which can offer culture and history as well as great weather.
Mr Vasallo said that Zaragoza, in the east of the country was hotly tipped to be a top holiday destination this year. The fifth most populous city in Spain, Zaragoza posts a wealth of cultural amenities. The city is a candidate to be the European Capital of Culture in 2016.
Spanish cuisine is also growing in popularity and reputation, as seven Spanish chefs attained three Michelin stars recently, putting Spanish food on the international map.
