Thomas Cook Egg On Early Easter Bookings
According to tour operator Thomas Cook, hot Easter destinations for 2008 include Tenerife, South Africa and Thailand. The tour operator advised Britons to book early for the Easter break to avoid disappointment.
Traditional city break destinations like Rome, Paris and Barcelona were also named as likely favourites as many travellers look for holidays soon.
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said, "Disneyland Paris is also a key choice especially with Eurostar's recent move to St Pancras making it more accessible throughout the UK."
"Being Easter and that the kids are off school, Thomas Cook always advises to book in advance to ensure people get the destination and dates they want," she added.
"For those looking for something warmer, Monte Carlo, Lisbon, Madrid and Seville are popular with those after a short break in the sun," she continued.
She concluded by saying that locations such as Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife are popular Easter destinations as they have "something for everyone."
Other long-haul hot spots being to eat your Easter eggs this year include Egypt (which along with South Africa is as popular as Thailand), Los Angeles, Belgium, and Tunisia.
Parents take advantage of kids being off school over Easter time, making it a popular time for families to get away on an early summer break. With bank holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday (21 and 24 March), it also means that most big kids are off work, meaning their annual holiday entitlement stretches a bit further at this time of year.
Easter is also a good time to avoid the truly scorching summertime temperatures - a plus for both for children and Easter eggs. The mild heat often means the islands of the Balearics, the Azores and the Canaries are often favoured at this time of year too.
