easyJet Holidays Has Taken Off
Cheap flights carrier easyJet has declared an end to "traditional week-long and fortnight holidays" with the flexible deals offered by its new package holidays business.
The new easyJet Holidays arm of the business involves a team-up with the Lowcosttravelgroup, and aims to offer travellers cheap holidays throughout the airline's large network of destinations, in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The airline, famous for pioneering cheap fares to Europe when it began operating over 15 years ago, now aims to pair its wide range of destinations – easyJet offers cheap flights from 18 UK airports to some 30 countries – with the high-quality cheap hotels and transfer services available with Lowcost.
The new cheap holidays company hopes that the combination of assets will tempt customers looking for more choice and flexibility with their holiday arrangements, enabling them to tailor their departure and return dates exactly to the times they wish to spend away.
The carrier's chief executive officer Carolyn McCall commented: "An overhaul of the holiday market has been a long time coming. Consumers want more value for their money and more freedom when arranging their holidays. We are confident that the combination of flexibility, exceptional value and choice, together with a state of the art website and call centre, will ensure easyJet Holidays becomes a leading brand in the holiday market within three years."
At the end of last month, easyJet announced that it was basing a fifth aircraft at Edinburgh Airport, increasing capacity by 300,000 places a year. It also announced plans to begin offering cheap flights to Tenerife, Athens and Grenoble from Edinburgh.
